Thanks go out to This Old House and their excellent YouTube tutorial for making this quick and easy. I inherited all of this wood, it was in what's now my firewood stall in the barn.
Prepped with a good scrubbing to get off the dirt and swallow poop, and a lot of sanding.

The stacked wood on the far right is some of what I used for the patio edging and temporarily as garden bed borders.

These boards are pretty cool, and by the staining, you can tell they were used as raised beds in the garden. There were pegs in the holes you can see, and shorter pieces cut to hold the longer pieces in place with the peg. A cool system but they don't work for how I changed the layout of the garden beds.

I left the underside more rustic, by not sanding as far down. We were in the middle of other bigger projects but I wanted to finish the table so we could enjoy dinner outside not just in folding chairs. The benches are super quick and easy, I made a third one that's temporarily inside at my dining table.

September 28th vs January 12th. This reminds me that I need to start clearing out the weeds and dead flowers from the garden beds and organize my first seed sowing. I've been so focused on finishing the patio, painting the interior entryway, and keeping up with regular chores but I can't put it off much longer.

It snowed last night 2/26, I guess I can put that off a little longer. Thanks for helping me out, weather.
I missed the snow this time as I was visiting family in the USVI. Home now and it feels so cold!
